Abortion in Florida

Abortion is legal in Florida until the 24th week of gestation. HB5, which was scheduled to ban abortion after 15 weeks of gestation starting July 1, 2022, was passed by the legislature and signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis. However a state judge blocked enforcement of the law, ruling that the Florida Constitution guaranteed a right to privacy that rendered the law unconstitutional. A few days later, on May 21, 1998, three people were injured when acid was poured at the entrances of five abortion clinics in Miami. On July 4, 2005, a clinic in West Palm Beach, Florida, was the target of an probable arson.
