The question then is how many 5-grams are there for a sentence with n amount of words in it? For example, how many 5-grams are there for a sentence with seven words like "The dog and the boy played fetch." and what are they?

Each word in the sentence will be the middle word of one 5-gram, so the number of 5 grams to consider is exactly the same as the number of words in the sentence. Where I used underscores, pretend underscore is a word when doing the hashing.
